DFL investor entry: Karlsruhe for another vote

Karlsruher SC “clearly” supports a new vote on possible investor entry into the German Football League (DFL).

“With such an important and long-term decision, there should be no doubts as to whether the democratic opinion formation was achieved correctly,” said managing director Michael Becker, according to a statement from the Baden second division football team.

Protests in numerous stadiums

“It is very important that it must be ruled out that there is no possible violation of the most important basic rule of German football, namely 50+1,” he added: “For this reason, we also prefer an open vote.”

In the debate on Wednesday, the President of VfB Stuttgart, Claus Vogt, also spoke out in favor of a repeat vote.

Protests against investors’ entry had recently continued in numerous stadiums. On the one hand, the fans are concerned about commercialization, and on the other hand, they fear the influence of an investor. In addition, the way the vote took place in December last year also caused dissatisfaction. The necessary two-thirds majority was achieved with the smallest possible number of yes votes. 24 clubs voted in favor, ten against, and two clubs abstained.
