The umbrella organization of German professional football still considers the relevant provision of the Bremen Fees and Contributions Act to be unconstitutional and the fee notices issued on this basis to be unlawful. Bremen is currently the only federal state that charges fees for police costs.
Dishes so far per Bremen
In November 2020, the Bremen Higher Administrative Court confirmed the legality of notices of fees for police costs in so-called high-risk games. Previously, in 2019, the Federal Administrative Court had already ruled that fees should be charged for “in principle lawful” explained. The state of Bremen had sent such fee slips to the DFL, which had forwarded them to the current second division soccer team. As a result, SV Werder Bremen incurred six-digit costs for each game affected.
