The new DFL Managing Director Donata Hopfen expects “very clear solution scenarios” from the federal and state governments in the Corona legislation for dealing with major events.
The fight against the pandemic is “top priority, that’s very clear,” said Hopfen in a “Sky” interview. Nevertheless, the German Football League expects steps towards a solution “that can be implemented, are practicable and that are understood”.
At the Prime Ministers’ Conference on January 24, it was decided that uniform rules should also be agreed for dealing with the admission of spectators by February 9.
“That can vary from region to region. But we need a solution that everyone can use as a guide,” said Hopfen. “And we are happy to support the policies of the federal and state governments. We have shown our interest in developing further solutions and have already proven in the past with our own concepts that this works well.”

The league expects “solutions with a very clear view of an opening,” said Hopfen, who replaced DFL Managing Director Christian Seifert at the beginning of the year. There are currently very different regulations for the admission of spectators in the federal states.
In Bavaria, up to 10,000 people (maximum 25 percent of the total capacity) are approved. The state government in Baden-Württemberg followed last week with a decision for 6,000 people.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, on the other hand, only 750 spectators are currently allowed. The NRW Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Köln want to have this checked in court in an urgent procedure. In Saxony, where 1000 spectators are allowed, RB Leipzig took this step.
