The boom in Germany’s women’s football continues even after the European Championship.
Around 2000 fans greeted the DFB selection with warm applause at the public training session in Frankfurt. “I’ve never experienced anything like this,” said captain Alexandra Popp at the beginning of the training session. “Thank you for all being here.”
The team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has to compete in Turkey next Saturday and in Bulgaria next Tuesday to complete the World Cup qualifiers.
With 21 points, the European Championship runner-up leads Group H in front of Serbia (18) and only needs one win to get the ticket on their own. The finals will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023.
