From TSG Hoffenheim
TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Grischa Prömel (28) was called up for the German national team for the first time. The former German U21 junior kicker is part of national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad following the loss of Borussia Dortmund’s new signing Felix Nmecha (23).
The association announced that Nmecha, who was initially appointed, is not available due to minor problems in the hip area that require dosage of stress. The DFB selection will face Turkey (Saturday, 8:45 p.m.) and Austria (Tuesday, 8:45 p.m.) in the upcoming international matches.
Three debutants around Prömel: The DFB squad for the November international matches
Robin Gosens (29) and Malick Thiaw (22) had previously canceled. Both will become fathers in the coming days and therefore wanted to stay with their families. Nagelsmann nominated David Raum (25) from RB Leipzig for Gosens. Prömel was one of the silver medalists at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He was already in the sights of the national team. However, a broken ankle almost exactly a year ago stopped him for a long time.
For the last international matches of the year, national coach Nagelsmann now has 26 players in his squad. It is still unclear the fitness status of Mats Hummels (34, back) and Leon Goretzka (28, muscular problems), who came to the meeting point in Frankfurt despite their complaints. The first training session on the DFB campus is on Tuesday (11 a.m.). The move to Berlin follows on Friday for the Turkey game in the Olympic Stadium.
Prömel is the fifth professional in the current squad who has never played in the senior team, alongside Marvin Ducksch (29) and Janis Blaswich (32), who were appointed for the first time, as well as his Hoffenheim colleagues Oliver Baumann (33) and Robert Andrich (29).
