Dream job: soccer player
When Jule Brand was asked at the end of her primary school days what she wanted to be, she answered: “National soccer player.“The national coach called for the first time in 2021, but Jule Brand didn’t answer right away – because she had the toothbrush in her mouth and her pulse was going up:”I was really shaking.” Today, the 1.77 tall attacker feels almost at home in the training center in St. Leon-Rot in northern Baden. Her training schedule is similar to that of the men in the Bundesliga, but she will probably start studying next winter semester.
Until then, Jule Brand and her DFB team-mates have a lot of work to do: At the Arnold Clark Cup, the game continues against Olympic champions Canada on Sunday, and the team will face England on February 23. The games are considered an important pointer for the EM in July – since WM-Quarterfinals-From 2019 the national team no longer had a tournament.
“Eager to learn and never satisfied”
“A lot has happened in the last year. I fulfilled a lot of dreams there: making my debut in the national team, playing in the Champions League“, says Jule Brand. “But I want to keep living my dreams: collecting Champions League games, becoming an integral part of the national team and getting more international matches. Just develop myself further, take the next steps.” And of course she wants to be part of the European Championship: “When we are there, we also have the goal of becoming European champions.“
By then at the latest, even more eyes will be on the attacker with the strong left foot. “I hope that Jule can keep her carefree attitude. She is very inquisitive and never satisfied, has a football field mentality“, says Voss-Tecklenburg. Jule Brand is considered an instinct footballer, has speed from a standing start, takes the right path unusually often. Tactic training is not her thing, she explains bluntly. “Sure, that’s also very important. But just play – that’s awesome in football.“
Next career step Wolfsburg
Hoffenheim has already produced quite a few international players. Jule Brand is the jewel in the team, but is moving to VfL Wolfsburg for the coming season – she has signed a contract there until June 30, 2025. For the 19-year-old, that’s “the optimal step for my further development. I’m already looking forward to being part of this team from the summer and having a successful time with VfL“.
“Jule is not only one of the biggest and most sought-after talents in Germany, but also internationally” Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of the VfL women, was also happy about the transfer.
