At the last international match of the year, Florian Wirtz was impressive in his DFB uniform. But his club will miss him for now.

Bitter news for Liverpool FC and Florian Wirtz: The German international will not be available for the “Reds” at the weekend for the home game against Nottingham Forest (on Saturday, from 4 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). Coach Arne Slot confirmed this at the press conference on Friday.

The 22-year-old offensive player, like defender Conor Bradley, could not play, said the Dutchman. “This is anything but ideal,” said Slot. The reason for the failure of the two professionals was muscle injuries.

Nevertheless, there is hope that Wirtz will not be missing from his team for long. The ex-Leverkusen player is expected to be able to play again after the game against Nottingham. “It depends on what happens after that, but it shouldn’t take that long.”

Wirtz had had some teething problems since moving from the Bundesliga to England. He still hasn’t managed to score a point for Liverpool FC in the Premier League. He recently shone in the national team. In the 6-0 win over Slovakia, which sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Wirtz set up two fantastic goals from teammate Leroy Sané.
