DFB introduces new director on Monday

The German Football Association will present a new director for “Young Talent, Training and Development” on Monday. The association did not name a name in its invitation to the press conference at 12:00 p.m.

According to consistent media reports, U20 coach Hannes Wolf (42) should have a much larger role at the DFB. In any case, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and sports director Rudi Völler will take part in the media round.

The reorganization of the DFB had been discussed in recent weeks. The DFB had confirmed talks with former world footballer Nadine Kessler (35), among others. According to reports, however, it is about a managing director position and even more clearly the areas of responsibility of the former director Oliver Bierhoff, who was responsible for the national teams and academy.

After the men’s national team dropped out in the preliminary round of the World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022, the women’s national team also failed in the group phase at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer. There is speculation about the convening of a competence team with Wolf at the top. Among other things, the former Bundesliga professionals Hanno Balitsch (42) and Sandro Wagner (35) should also be included.

In the past, Wolf coached Bundesliga clubs VfB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen. The coach of the year 2017 is valued at the DFB and, as the champion coach of Borussia Dortmund’s youth team, also has a great deal of experience in the youth field.
