For upcoming test matches
Hansi Flick has to do without another player in preparation for the first international matches of the year. Central defender Robin Koch was unable to travel to the German national team in Frankfurt on Monday because of a positive corona test, as the German Football Association announced. The 25-year-old from Premier League club Leeds United had been nominated for the DFB team for the first time since last summer.
The 24-man squad of the DFB against Israel and the Netherlands
Striker Karim Adeyemi (20) had previously had to pull out of the test matches on Saturday in Sinsheim against Israel and three days later against the Netherlands in Amsterdam because of a muscle injury. On Monday, the DFB also announced that Bayern professional Joshua Kimmich (27) would not come to the DFB team on Monday due to the imminent birth of his third child. “We hope that if everything goes well, he will be with us soon,” said Flick about Kimmich.
After Koch’s cancellation, Flick still has 23 players in his squad for the time being. It was initially not known whether an actor would be nominated. In November, Flick had to do without the Bayern defender and several contacts, including Kimmich, in the last World Cup qualifiers because of a positive corona test from Niklas Süle.
