The second round of the DFB Cup was drawn on Sunday. For the Iron there is a feasible task – and a home game.

Union Berlin has home advantage in the second round of the DFB Cup in the An der Alten Försterei stadium against the second division soccer team 1. FC Heidenheim.

This was the result of the draw by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and para-swimmer Josia Topf as part of the ZDF program “sportstudio reportage” in the German Football Museum in Dortmund on Sunday.

In the first round, the Berliners struggled against the regional league team Chemnitzer FC and only won 2-1 after extra time. In the previous season, the Unioners had failed in the semi-finals by a very narrow margin at RB Leipzig.

Heidenheim had beaten fourth division club FV Illertissen in the first round this year. Coach Frank Schmidt’s team is currently in third place in the 2nd Bundesliga. The second main round of the DFB Cup will take place from October 18th to 19th.
