DFB Cup: Hamburger SV after a wild game against Karlsruher SC in the semifinals – DFB Cup – football

The decisive scene of the first half took place just before the break in front of the Hamburg penalty area. With a central free kick from almost 20 meters, the HSV wall was not optimal and Heise turned the ball around the wall to make it 1-0 for KSC into the left corner.

Hofmann follows up with dust collectors

Shortly after the restart, the Badeners even upped the ante. After an attack from the left, Heuer Fernandes was able to clear the shot from close range. But Hofmann was in the right place and shot in from ten meters to make it 2-0.

However, the joy of taking the lead didn’t last two minutes. With the next attack, a cross found Glatzel’s head and he scored 1:2 from Hamburg’s point of view. After that, the game got even more intense. Hamburg put the pressure on. Karlsruhe did not hide.

Gersbeck saves a penalty

After a few good attempts, a penalty could have brought HSV back into the game. After a long view of the video images, referee Felix Zwayer decided on a penalty after a duel between Hamburg striker Glatzel and Christoph Kobald in the six-yard box and also on yellow-red for the Karlsruhe player (72nd).

But KSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck suspected the right corner and parried Sonny Kittel’s shot. Even outnumbered, the guests left, but it was attack after attack on the KSC goal. In the end it was Glatzel again who shot the “Rothosen” into overtime with the goal to make it 2-2.

HSV dominates in extra time

In the extra time, HSV had the advantage as the playing time increased and they also had the best chance with a smock finish (105th). But neither this attempt nor a Jatta shot from the left corner of the penalty area (115th) found its way into the goal.

In the penalty shootout, HSV goalkeeper Heuer Fernandes finally became the man of the evening with three saved shots. Goals from Josha Vagnoman, Mario Vuskovic and Glatzel meant Hamburg made it 3-2 on penalties and made it into the last four.

The semi-final opponent of Hamburger SV, who has now won three rounds in a row in a penalty shoot-out, will be drawn on Sunday (March 6th, 2022) from 7.15 p.m. in the sports show by Olympic bobsleigh champion Laura Nolte.
