DFB Cup draw: FC Bayern meets Viktoria Cologne, BVB against 1860

The first round of the 2022/23 DFB Cup was drawn by ex-professional Kevin Großkreutz (33, TuS Bövinghausen). Defending champions RB Leipzig have to go to FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen in Hamburg, Borussia Dortmund, who won the 2021 cup, have to deal with 1860 Munich, while record winners FC Bayern are visiting FC Viktoria Köln.

The first round duels without the participation of clubs from the 3rd division or the amateur sector are Jahn Regensburg against 1. FC Köln, 1. FC Kaiserslautern against SC Freiburg, Eintracht Braunschweig against Hertha BSC and 1. FC Magdeburg against Eintracht Frankfurt. 30 of the 32 pairings will be held from July 29th to August 1st – the Leipzig and Bavarians will not attack until August 30th/31st. August as they play for the Supercup on July 30th.

After FC St. Pauli (Regionalliga Nord), only one third and one fourth division team from the lower classes made it into the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. The Hamburg failed at Bayern.
