The German Football Association (DFB) has agreed on the desired candidate in its search for a women’s boss, but cannot yet report any implementation.

“We have made promises with the new director,” said DFB managing director Andreas Rettig on “ZDF” on the sidelines of the women’s international match against Denmark in Rostock (3-0).

Nia Künzer, world champion in 2003, was last considered for the position. Rettig did not want to confirm the name.

“We’ve got all the things sorted out. Now there are things that need to be clarified that are not within our scope of decision-making. That’s why we have to be patient a little longer,” explained the 60-year-old.

The DFB is aiming to “find a solution in the short term”, but is “not in control of the process. The parties have come to an agreement, that’s not the point. Everything looks good.”
