At the intersection of Geldropseweg and Sint Petrus Canisiuslaan in Eindhoven, extensive damage was caused by an accident involving two cars and a van on Sunday evening. The van collided with a car at the intersection. In the process, the bus lost a ladder that was tied to the roof. This caused another car to swerve and crashed into a tree again. Two drivers were injured, one of them was arrested by the police.
Several ambulances and fire trucks came to the scene of the accident. One of the drivers was freed from her car by the fire brigade. She was taken to hospital in an ambulance with injuries.
The driver of the van put up a lot of resistance when the emergency services tried to give him first aid. The man was restrained on the ground by officers. He was then taken to hospital by ambulance. He was arrested there. The police are investigating whether he was under the influence.
The accident attracted a lot of attention and the road was full of debris after the collisions. The intersection was therefore cordoned off by the police.
Witnesses reported seeing the van driving at a high speed. This would also have been reported to the police.
