Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – The German Football Association (DFB) wants to allow clubs to sign players from clubs in Ukraine and Russia, but not allow them to be used in competitive games.
“After careful consideration, the DFB executive committee, the responsible DFB committees and the responsible departments of the DFB decided that these options are not currently being exercised in Germany,” said the DFB with a view to the current second half of the 2021 season /22 with.
Players should be able to take part in training and play friendly games. “Only assignments in competitive games (league, cup, relegation) in the current season are prohibited,” said the DFB. The association named the sporting integrity as the “main reason”. The DFB has already informed the clubs as well as the regional and state associations about this decision. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, sport in Ukraine is currently at a standstill. Russian clubs were excluded from the international competitions.
