Collective bargaining is scheduled to start on January 6, 2023, as the union announced. Verdi terminated the collective agreement on December 31, 2022. The peace obligation also ends on this date.
Verdi wants to demand a term of 12 months for the new collective agreement. That was decided by the responsible Verdi collective bargaining committee in Berlin on Monday. The union also demands that training allowances and student salaries be increased by 200 euros a month in each training year. The so-called “postal allowance” for the company’s approximately 22,000 civil servants is also to be continued.
A survey of the Verdi members in the Deutsche Post companies by the trade union had previously shown that “the employees expect inflation compensation and also a share in the company’s success”.
Deutsche Post CEO Frank Appel said with the figures for the third quarter at the beginning of November that he was expecting difficult negotiations in the upcoming collective bargaining round. He doesn’t see much room for maneuver in the Post & Parcel Germany sector, and a high collective bargaining agreement also means high cost increases.
The Deutsche Post share was temporarily listed on XETRA 1.86 percent lower at 37.97 euros.
