Who overreacted here? Ferrari driver Mario Barth takes the train – without a mask! And already he comes across a strict train attendant. Apparently, the conductor doesn’t take a joke and has Barth, who is filming the situation with his smartphone, removed from the ICE by the federal police. The skirmish immediately lands in the net. De-escalation looks different…

The usual social media storm promptly breaks out, in which the group now intervenes with a casual slogan: “Masks are compulsory on our trains, you know, you know?” the railway workers write under the video distributed via Facebook. Apparently, someone on duty knew the saying that Barth always drops in his stage program.

Opinions differ widely in the comment lines. Barth fans snippyly remark that their Mario was only “drinking”. In the stream, the comedian had indeed pointed out that he only took the mask off briefly when he wanted to take a sip.

All kinds of rail haters, vaccination opponents and lateral thinkers use the comment bar to let off steam. “Train is on time today! You know, you know? The lounges are closed! You know, you know?”

Mario Barth himself puts “legal consequences” in the room. At least that’s what he announces in his little film, which is now running on all web channels.

Barth has so far left direct inquiries from Bild and RTL unanswered. A railway spokesman, in turn, also kept a low profile. Just this much: “The statutory mask requirement applies on our trains. This also applies to Mario Barth”.
