Details of Jorge Luis Borges’ passion for cinema

Few referents in the world of Argentine literature achieved the impact that Jorge Luis Borges managed to bestow with his creations in writing. The builder of consecrated books as “El Aleph” and “Fictions” He left a mark on national and international artists, in various disciplines and genres. But also, the writer took an active part in some artistic productions of his time.

Other topics of the event, which will be presented in person and virtually, will focus on tango, the media and the analysis of works such as “Fervor of Buenos Aires” and “El Aleph”. In addition, the manuscripts of his lectures will be presented and a reflection will be made on what it means for a writer to “read Borges”.

Borges and the cinema

Among the in-person guests will be the Spanish novelist and translator Andres Barba, who will talk about Borges and his elegant way of plagiarizing; the welsh academic Richard Gwyn that will give an account of the parallel worlds of the author; and the journalist Walter Romero, which will deal with tango according to Borges. Meanwhile, the virtual talks will be in charge of the Spanish writer eloy tizon; the North American researcher, specialist in the Borges manuscripts, Daniel Balderson; the researcher Sylvia Saitta; the authors Claudia Pineiro and Debora Mundani; and the journalist Hinde Pomeraniec.
