According to a survey, the majority of people in Germany want to continue to wear a mask indoors despite the corona easing. Two out of five Germans (41 percent) stated that they always wanted to wear a mask in shops or on the train, for example, even if there will no longer be a mask requirement as the corona measures are lifted, according to a Yougov survey published on Monday .
According to this, 27 percent said they would wear a mask from time to time, 9 percent rarely. In the survey at the end of last week, 17 percent stated that they would never want to put on the mask indoors if masks were no longer compulsory. 7 percent did not provide any information. According to Yougov, women said more often than men that they always wear a mask indoors, even without a mask requirement (43 percent vs. 39 percent of men).
According to a decision by the federal government, most of the corona rules are to be lifted despite the persistently high number of new infections. After a transitional period until April 2nd, the federal states can only impose further restrictions with more mask requirements and access rules if the state parliament determines a critical situation for so-called hotspots with high numbers of infections. There are no threshold values for when this should take effect. In hotspots, not all previous protective measures are possible under certain conditions, but more than in the context of basic protection. (dpa)
