Despite the ban, 200 dogs on the grounds of controversial breeder Eersel

The controversial dog breeder from Eersel has gone wrong again. The municipality says that there are about 200 dogs on the site against the rules. Therefore, the breeder must pay a penalty of 2,500 euros. 500 kilos of spoiled dog food was also found at the company and the environmental service has found several environmental violations.

This came to light during a major inspection by, among others, the municipality of Eersel and the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) on Wednesday.

The municipality will check again next week whether there are still dogs on the site. In total, the municipality wants to check every week for ten weeks, and a fine of 2500 euros will be imposed for each violation. The total penalty can amount to 25,000 euros.

Spoiled dog food
At the beginning of February, the Council of State decided that the dog breeder had to stop his business in Eersel in mid-March. But the breeder did not do that, it turned out on Wednesday. The NVWA also found 500 kilos of spoiled dog food in the company on Wednesday, and saw that the equipment and rooms present were dirty.

The UWV checked whether there was benefit fraud among the employees of companies registered at the location. The Southeast Brabant Environment Agency has also found several environmental violations.

Illegal
Earlier it appeared that illegal dogs were being bred and traded. In addition, the welfare of the animals was not in order, as was the administration.

The municipality of Eersel already imposed a penalty to stop breeding in 2021, after it was discredited. The company appealed. The Council of State ruled in favor of the municipality at the beginning of February this year because breeding is in conflict with the zoning plan.

Dogs taken away
Previously, the NVWA took 435 dogs that were in bad shape during an inspection. At that time, 159 dogs remained with the breeder.

According to House of Animals, it is already known that the breeder wants to settle with his animals in Belgium, where he wants to continue his business. The breeder previously denied mistreating his dogs.
