Despite cancellation of Front Night, the police are still ready
The council of aldermen of the city of Ypres unanimously decided on Tuesday afternoon that the Frontnacht festival cannot take place.
As part of the Yserwake, the radical break-off of the Yserbedevaart, Front Night was planned on Saturday 27 August. The music festival immediately caused quite a stir. For example, various opposition parties and non-profit organizations formed the Peace Collective Ypres to put a stop to the festival. The collective did not think it was possible that the city had granted the festival a permit, subject to conditions, and also checked whether the festival met the conditions. That soon turned out not to be the case.
The organization of Frontnacht will decide tonight whether it will go to court. She also demands compensation, but the city of Ypres does not want to go into that.
