The Füchse Berlin suffered their first loss of points in the handball Bundesliga after ten wins, but still remain leaders.

Despite a seven-goal lead at VfL Gummersbach on Friday evening, the Berliners couldn’t get past 30:30 (16:11). The Foxes still go into the international break as leaders. The best Berlin thrower was Mathias Gidsel with eight goals.

The guests from the capital started with great concentration and immediately took the lead. The defense worked very carefully and keeper Dejan Milosavljev shone with some strong saves. The Berliners repeatedly managed to win the ball and score easy goals through fast counterattacks. After a good 13 minutes, the Foxes had already managed to pull ahead to 9:3.

With the increased number of changes in the game, the flow of the game came to a bit of a halt. The Berliners also made a few technical errors and Gummersbach came within two goals (10:12). But the Foxes remained calm and were able to increase their lead again by half time.

And even after the break, the guests initially remained confident. After a good 42 minutes they led by seven goals (24:17). But then suddenly the Berliners hardly managed anything.

After a 3:11 run, the increasingly tired players from the capital suddenly found themselves behind for the first time five minutes before the end. And in the final phase it became a crime thriller. The guests were now chasing a deficit, but Jerry Tollbring saved the draw 33 seconds before the end.
