Setting up a model with Jeep’s American DNA and thinking about it for the European market is not easy, but with the Avenger the brand has not only succeeded in terms of the design and essence of this compact SUV in the B segment, but has also provided it with a new 100% electric soul, becoming the first Jeep to offer battery-powered mechanics. But since electrification goes by neighborhood, Spain and Italy will also have a gasoline model.
Daniele Calonaci I had it clear when designing this model from the beginning: The Avenger could not be another Jeep. And less this one. In the B-SUV segment, it was crucial to offer a model capable of battling fierce competition, maintaining the brand’s DNA and embracing electrification. And always thinking of a key market such as Europe.
Calonaci sought inspiration in the everyday, the familiar. With the Avenger the brand was resized in Europe and design became an essential part. Seen the result, we are convinced that the head of design of Jeep has hit the nail on the head. The challenge of offering the first electric in the segment It took many hours of work for the brand, since you couldn’t make just any car.
The design of the Avenger is based on the fact that the platform on which it is articulated must be taken into account. It’s about the multi-energy platform of the Stellantis CMP Group. From there Colonaci built a body in which the modern and smooth lines converged with the ‘aggressiveness’ of the Jeep of a lifetime. Capacity, style, functionality and sophistication are presented in the Avenger in every detail. Colonaci has had special care in all of them, and the soul of the Turin Design Center Stile it can be seen perfectly in many of the Avenger’s angles. In fact, if we are a bit seasoned when it comes to looking for winks, we will find some in the Avenger itself, from the coordinates of the Italian design center hidden in the front radar, to the logo on the Jeep grille and even a telescope that looks at the constellations on the windshield itself. The designer had been inspired by his son, creating a fun car, capable of bringing out the child in all of us.
When we saw the new Jeep Avenger for the first time and heard the passion with which Daniele Colonaci spoke to us, we knew we were in front of a very special car, passionate and with a youthful soul. Looking at the designer’s drawings, we came to the conclusion that if the final result was going to be similar, Jeep had hit the nail on the head.
Jeep’s design team has managed to offer a new interpretation of the brand’s heritage in a compact model, without resorting to complications. Stand out in the front the seven-slot grille that evolves from a vertical to a horizontal style pattern. In addition, the fact that it is a model designed for electrification allows this type of bet. Details have been carefully worked out, such as placing the curved grille in front of headlights to protect them in case of impacthas also drawn a muscle fender look to give it a greater visual sensation of strength.
The side has a modern and strong cut, with trapezoidal wheel arches. The floating C-pillar, a familiar detail in the Jeep range, gives it a little more of that punch than one expects when looking at a model from the American brand of Stellantis. The rear has lights inspired by the classic ‘fuel drums’ in the shape of an ‘X’. This symbol is repeated both inside and outside, through the so-called ‘X-Camo’a decorative pattern linking the ‘camouflage’ design to the letter ‘X’.
As a good model thought, designed and manufactured in Europe (it is produced in the Polish plant in Tychy), the Avenger offers a very neat, simple interior and far from the stridency of other models in the segment that seek, perhaps, an exaggerated sophistication.
pure and functional
Incorporates many spaces to leave objects (up to 34 liters of total volume), are used quality materials, and as Colonaci says “it is about placing the right material in the right place”, neither look for more nor offer less. “Pure, functional lines have been sought, because we are also looking for new clients, who are looking for precisely this type of detail.” The console position offers a space under transmission controls with a magnetic flip top that allows for various solutions such as charging a phone or storing a large water bottle. It’s a flexible and modular interiorwith a central tunnel that can be moved.
The personalization it is a reason for being in this new generation of Jeep that is looking for its place among a younger, more connected public and with the digital experience as its flag. For that aspect, the Avenger has a range of 100 Mopar accessories to configure a single model. The design of the new Avenger accompanies a 100% electric model (gasoline also in Spain and Italy), which we can already buy from 249 euros per month (199 euros in gasoline).
