Dermagne wants to get rid of fidelity premium on savings accounts | Domestic

“We want to abolish the distinction between a base interest rate and a fidelity premium for regulated savings accounts, so that consumers can more easily compare offers of savings products between different banks,” says Dermagne.

Last month, the Belgian Competition Authority (BMA) also put forward the option of abolishing the fidelity premium on savings accounts. At Dermagne’s request, the BMA examined the sector and came to the conclusion that there is too little competition between the major Belgian banks.
