May holidays in 2022 should be extended to 10 days, covering the entire period from May 1 to May 10, so that people can plant and chat with each other, declared Deputy Speaker of the State Duma from the New People faction Vladislav Davankov.

According to the production calendar of the Ministry of Labor, this year the days from April 30 to May 3, as well as from May 7 to 10 are declared days off. Davankov proposed to remove working days between holidays and make days off from May 4 to May 6.

“It is already spring, and the planting season is coming soon In Russia, there are problems with seeds, problems with the material that is used to ensure that our food security is in order this autumn. The proposal of the New People party is to make long May holidays this year,” he said.

Specialists of the National Credit Ratings (NKR) calculated that Russia independently meets the needs of the domestic market in vegetables: the demand for potatoes and cucumbers can be met by 90%, carrots and beets – by 80%, tomatoes – by 70%. Egypt remains the main supplier of potatoes (half of imports), Belarus supplies a quarter of the “borsch set” vegetables, and Azerbaijan supplies a third of imported tomatoes.
