Depeche Mode: XL bag strap cheaper than ever

There is currently a lot to announce at Depeche Mode. Of course also from our side! The ROLLING STONE special issue “Depeche Mode” will be published on Friday (February 2, 2024), from which you can read excerpts here (an interview with Markus Kavka) and here (an interview with Dennis Burmeister and Sascha Lange).

Now the magnificent volume “Depeche Mode by Anton Corbijn” is no longer available for 100 euros, but only 49 euros. In the press release, the tome is advertised as follows: “The volume contains over 500 photos, some of which have not yet been published, from Corbijn’s extensive archive, including both official and more private band portraits, taken in Madrid, Hamburg, the California desert, Prague or Marrakech (many photos were taken while filming iconic videos like “Enjoy The Silence” or “Personal Jesus”); plus a multitude of spontaneous, candid pictures and breathtaking live recordings from all tours since 1988.”

A new edition will also be published by Taschen-Verlag in February 2024 for just 15 euros.

It says: “The volume contains more than 150 photos from the archive of the Dutch band intimate Corbijn, including both official and private Depeche Mode band portraits. The pictures were taken in Madrid, Hamburg, the California desert, Prague and Marrakech. There are also “a variety of spontaneous, candid images and breathtaking live recordings from all tours from 1988 to 2023.”

This version is commercially available “Depeche Mode by Anton Corbijn” from February 16, 2024. The hardcover book has the dimensions, 14 x 19.5 centimeters, covers 192 pages and weighs 410 grams. Significantly cheaper, but also smaller than the XL version of the tape chronicle, which can now be purchased for 49 euros – the dimensions here are 24.3 x 34 centimeters, the weight 3.33 kilograms and includes 512 pages, more than 300 additional pages – with a total of more than 500 photos.

Before that there was already a “Collector’s Edition (No. 201-1.986)”, the volumes of which were each signed by Anton Corbijn and Depeche Mode, and which are now sold on secondary markets for several thousand euros.

On February 22nd, Depeche Mode will start their 2024 hall tour in London’s O2 Arena, and the concert tour will end on April 8th in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena. There have always been rumors that Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and colleagues could do another leg of the tour in South America. But, as Gahan’s brother wrote on social media, that was not planned. Unfortunately, there is no longer any talk of the “Memento Mori” final gigs in Berlin’s Waldbühne for the summer that have been rumored again and again.
