Depeche Mode release music video for track “Before We Drown”

The clip was created in collaboration with her friend, the photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn.

They recently played the MEMENTO MORI track live for the first time in London, and now Depeche Mode have also released a music video for “Before We Drown”.

Anton Corbijn back at the start

The clip was directed by friend, filmmaker and photographer Anton Corbijn, who also provided the visual accompaniment to songs like “Wagging Tongue” and “Ghosts Again”. The Dutch director has worked with the synth-pop group several times throughout the band’s history and is, among other things, responsible for the legendary video for “Enjoy the Silence”.

In the newly released black and white clip for “Before We Drown,” a person is seen slowly walking into a stormy sea.

Remembering Andy Fletcher

Their 15th studio record, MEMENTO MORI, is the first work after the death of co-founder and keyboardist Andy Flechter. Most recently, Depeche Mode honored him with a live performance of “World In My Eyes”. More importantly, they complemented the performance with a large screen overlay of Fletcher.
