He was 60 years old and was duly praised by the Berlin fans.
On Tuesday (February 20th) Depeche Mode gave their last concert in Berlin and are now traveling through other European countries again before celebrating their tour finale in Cologne in April. The evening of the last gig in the capital was not only special for the fans, but also for the group’s live keyboardist, Peter Gordeno. He was celebrating his 60th birthday and of course got a little serenade.
Encore for Peter Gordeno
In most cases where Depeche Mode bring such congratulations on stage, they are addressed to a fan – as was the case at the first two Berlin performances of this year. For Gordeno’s special day, Martin Gore and Dave Gahan got the Mercedes-Benz Arena to sing “Happy Birthday” to him as part of the encore. The two sang the song after their hit “Waiting For The Night” and the fans joined in. There was a big birthday hug on stage before the band concentrated on the last three songs of their set and brought the show to a close.

For Peter Gordeno, it’s not the first birthday he spent on tour with his Depeche Mode colleagues. In 2018 he was wished “all the best” by fans in Riga, and in 2010 he was serenaded in London.
