When the “Black Swarm”, as Dave Gahan affectionately calls the Depeche Mode supporters, gathered on Sunday (February 19) in front of the Alte Kongresshalle in Munich, it was clear despite the lack of posters – Depeche Mode is not far away. The band gave a private concert there in front of 400 fans. Bayerischer Rundfunk accompanied the Depeche Mode disciples during the event.

Even before the event, the mood was good and “DM” hits rang out from the queue in front of the entrance. Hardcore fans showed the BR24 reporters their “Momento Mori” tattoos. This is love that gets under your skin – although the album of the same name will not be released until March 24th. The first harbinger of the new record so far is the single “Ghosts Again”. In addition to this, the visitors of the small show heard two unreleased songs, “Wagging Tongue” and “My Favorite Stranger”, as well as two old hits, “Precious” and “Personal Jesus”.

Gahan and Martin Gore made mistakes with the new titles, according to the report, the fans took it easy and the songs were still well received. “You have the feeling that you are in the rehearsal room. Not everything was right with two of the new songs and those are special moments that you don’t usually experience with Depeche Mode,” said one fan enthusiastically afterwards.

Since nothing can be made public before the release of “Memento Mori”, the BR24 camera was not allowed into the congress hall. There are still a few insights and photos in the report:
