Tragic loss of founding member

It will be Depeche Mode’s first tour without founding member Andy Fletcher. Fletcher died unexpectedly in May 2022. In an interview with ROLLING STONE, Martin Gore explained: “Of course it is very difficult to lose your closest friend. Andy was my boyfriend long before the band and I feel like he was in the trenches with me all along. So it’s very tough.” But it’s also clear to Gore: Fletcher would have wanted Depeche Mode to continue after his death. “Andy has always been something of the band’s glue. It would have been unthinkable for him that his death would have meant the end of the band.” The new Depeche Mode album “Memento Mori” will be released in spring 2023.
