The start of the Alpine Downhill World Cup in Beaver Creek has been delayed.
Due to snowfall during the night, the start of the race, originally scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CET, was postponed indefinitely “to give the team the opportunity to work on the route,” said the World Ski Federation FIS.
The FIS later announced that a decision would be made at 8:30 p.m. as to whether skiing could take place at 9 p.m. The racers’ inspection of the slopes will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
The first two downhill runs of the winter are scheduled to take place in the US state of Colorado on Friday and Saturday. The planned start on the Matterhorn was canceled a good two weeks ago due to heavy snowfall and wind.
