Ukrainian striker playing his fifth season in the Veikkausliiga club SJK Denys Olijnyk has decided to return to his home country.

SJK says that the contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

– This is a really significant thing for me. I have always wanted to end my career as a football player in my home country of Ukraine. Especially now in this difficult situation in which my country is now, it is important for me to leave now – to show my countrymen that I am not afraid. I want to show support and set an example, and help as much as possible, Olijnyk, 34, explains the reason for leaving in the Seinjoki club’s press release.

SJK’s technical director of the sports side Richard Dorman says that the club will receive transfer compensation from Olijnyk, which will be invested in strengthening the team.

– We all wish Denys success and luck for the rest of his career. And we thank him for all the hard work he has given to our club over the past four years. While he is gone, we promise to take care of his mother and children here within the SJK family, Dorman states.
