Dennis Schouten misled Shownieuws: ‘Dirty vultures!’

Dennis Schouten deliberately misled an editor of Shownieuws. This has created the fake news that he was involved in a stabbing in his hometown of Glanerbrug.

Shownieuws came with disturbing news last weekend. Dennis Schouten involved in stabbing headlined the show section using quotes. It was taken over by numerous media outlets, including RTL BoulevardThe Telegraph and villa media† It turns out that nothing is right at all. There was a stabbing, but not with Dennis.

stabbing

Dennis confesses in Gossip Talk that he feigned his involvement in the conscious stabbing to Show news to take a hit. He sent a misleading response to a program editor, Danitza Audenaerde. She reported to Dennis late last Saturday night after reading some messages on Twitter.

“Two injured in stabbing after an argument in Glanerbrug,” a regional newspaper headlined that evening. Since Dennis is from Glanerbrug, Rob Goossens tweeted to him: “Are you okay, Dennis?”

Dennis replied: “I do. My brother is now being interrogated.”

Show news

Shownieuws editor Danitza decided to app Dennis immediately. “Hey Dennis, Danitza from Shownieuws here. I saw a response from you under the article about a stabbing in Glanerbrug. What is going on? Are you okay?” she appended, as can be seen in Gossip Talk.

Dennis then: “I have to go to the hospital. Can’t comment further.”

Danitza: “Are you hurt?”

Dennis again: “I assume nothing serious.”

filthy vultures

Dennis now emphasizes that his comment to Rob was a joke. At the time, he was just sitting in a restaurant with his brother. “To me, Rob is more of a close acquaintance than a business question. Because Rob knows me, knows my program and my brother sat across from me, I said, ‘I’m okay, but my brother is being interrogated now.’”

He didn’t expect the media to pick up on that. “I thought: nobody does anything with it, because it’s a joke, but those vultures from Shownieuws… That’s from John de Mol, who now suddenly wants 55,000 euros from us. I only knew that two days ago. And those filthy vultures send a message.”

Mislead

Dennis decided to mislead Shownieuws. “I just didn’t feel like telling those people from Shownieuws about it. I thought it was a retarded message and they are from John de Mol, so I think: get something! She wished me luck, but I thought: he doesn’t understand, fine. I go to the pub, phone in the pocket and I put it on the coat rack at the DJ.”

And then it all got out of hand. “Around twelve o’clock someone comes to me with a Telegraaf headline: ‘Dennis Schouten involved in the Glanerbrug stabbing incident.’ I walk to the DJ again, pick up the phone and it was everywhere: Boulevard, Shownieuws, Telegraaf. Every news site came up with it.”

unbelievable

Unbelievable, Dennis thinks. “There is always a lot of criticism that juice channels just bring everything, but no one had called me. I didn’t have a single missed call. Yes, from acquaintances who thought I was dead.”

Colleague Jan Roos: “They didn’t even call the police or call the hospital? So that’s kind of the problem: it was hihihi and hahaha when Yvonne Coldeweijer posted that sniff video that fake turned out to be and now they have written our Dennis almost to death.”
