While many athletes are putting their feet up and enjoying their vacation these days, the biathlon stars are already working flat out to get in shape for the coming season. Olympic champion Denise Herrmann also sweats during daily training.
Whether on roller skis, the bike or the yoga mat: Denise Herrmann is currently using all training opportunities to get in shape for the coming biathlon season. Incidentally, the Olympic champion is already making plans for next winter. Part of that plan is her participation in the biathlon event at Schalke.
Herrmann will “definitely be at the start” in Gelsenkirchen this year, explained Herbert Fritzenwenger, sports organizer of the race in the football arena.
And the German number one won’t be the only well-known name in the field. “Many international stars who were not at the start in Ruhpolding last year because of Corona and the Olympics have promised to compete again this year at Schalke,” revealed the organizer.
Fritzenwenger could not or did not want to say which stars are involved. All that is known so far is that ten more mixed teams will compete and compete in the arena.
Biathlon celebrates 20 years Auf Schalke
The organizer has not yet revealed whether anything special is planned for the 20th anniversary of the edition. Instead, he just said: “It’s special that it’s finally happening again at Schalke. That’s where it belongs and that’s where it should stay.”
After a forced two-year break, biathlon is returning to Gelsenkirchen this year. The event will take place on December 28th. Tickets purchased for the 2020 or 2021 event remain valid.
