Demolition started at the Groeninge Abbey site

The buildings that were placed 15 years ago as an extension next to the Groeninge abbey are disappearing. There will be a new pavilion, but the biggest innovation will be underground, where there will be two new exhibition spaces. After the demolition works and the archaeological research, construction will start.

Axel Ronse, Alderman of Cultuur Kortrijk: “There will be an investment of 15 million euros here. Kortrijk has the great ambition to really work at the top level in the visual arts. We have more to offer than we show in the field of visual art. The future exhibitions will really play an international role. Everything should be ready by September 2024.”
