Demolition Ferris wheel Westende started
The court in Bruges ordered the construction of the wheel to be halted on Friday, after a complaint from a second residence. Mayor Jean-Marie Dedecker quickly reacted with disappointment: “My door is always open and I am happy to discuss any problems. Now we receive a unilateral petition from one complainant. We had discussions with the complainant yesterday, but were unable to come to a workable compromise to keep the Ferris wheel in Westende-Bad.”

The Ferris wheel is now moving to Arthur De Greefplein in Westende. Manager Marc Bufkens is happy that there is an alternative, but disappointed about the complaint. “We had been building here for a week when a bailiff came to stop the works on Friday,” he says. “Now we are breaking down, on Friday the construction will start again at the new location. But that will also take a week: the wheel will not be able to turn until July 3.” (continue reading below the video)
