Ukraine will experience a “catastrophic” drop in birth rate in 2023. So says Ella Libanova, director of the Ptoukha Institute of Demography and Social Studies in Ukraine. She also said there are risks that the country’s population will decline to less than 35 million by 2030. The World Bank estimated the population of Ukraine in 2021 at more than 43 million.
