“Revolutionary May 1st: Yallah class struggle – No war but class war!” That’s the motto of this year’s riot demo, which wants to move from Neukölln to Kreuzberg on Sunday evening without its own stewards.
In its risk assessment, the state security analyzed how the elevator should be composed:
► The 1st block is made up of “Migrantifa Berlin”, a broad alliance of migrant groups. The “class struggle block” should form behind it. It is followed by an “anarchist block” of the left-wing autonomous scene and a “youth block” with participants in the feeder demos.
With a “high probability” there will be violent attacks on the part of the anarcho block against “irritant objects” and “policemen”, according to the threat assessment by the State Criminal Police Office (LKA).
The “use of bottles, pyrotechnics or stones as projectiles” must be expected. When intervening, “acts of resistance and attempts to free prisoners are likely.”
Approved route goes through small roads
The route of the “Revolutionary May Day Demonstration” currently approved by the police deviates from the registered route at two points – and was assigned by the police. The reason for this are planned street festivals in the Neukölln district on Sonnenallee and Hermannplatz.
The route assigned by the police turns off Sonnenallee and goes through Weichselstrasse, Weserstrasse, Reuterstrasse and Pflugerstrasse to Kottbusser Damm and then to Kottbusser Tor and Oranienplatz.
The organizers of the demonstration had already criticized these plans and said that by moving to smaller streets, they saw “the danger that the police could – intentionally – attack and break up the demonstration at this point”. The police are trying “to build a police cauldron disguised as a street party together with the district office”. The district of Neukölln, on the other hand, says that the festivals have been planned for a long time.
► The demonstration starts at 6 p.m. on Hertzbergplatz on Sonnenallee, 5,000 to 20,000 participants are expected. According to Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD), 6,000 police forces are on the streets – at the beginning of the week there were talks of 5,000.
