Russia has significantly restricted citizens’ access to various sites and services. For example, access to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter has been blocked in Russia.

This has led Russians to look for ways to access these services despite restrictions. According to Top10VPN, demand for VPN services has exploded by as much as 2,088 percent compared to “normal” demand. He tells about it Reuters.

With a virtual private network (VPN), outsiders cannot see what a person is doing online. When the connection passes through a VPN server, the traffic comes from the IP address of the VPN server and not from the user’s own IP address. This keeps the user’s location secret and allows them to visit sites they would not otherwise be able to access.

Demand for VPN services has already risen due to cyber attacks. Russia has tried to block several VPN services last year without success.

According to a report by Top10VPN, more than 200 news sites and almost 100 currency and crypto sites have been blocked in Russia.
