Proposal submitted to FIFA
Due to the war waged by Russia in Ukraine, the Polish Football Association (PZPN), among others, has advocated an extraordinary transfer period for players in the Russian league. How “The Guardians” reported on Thursday, the PZPN has submitted a proposal to the world governing body FIFA to give players in the Premier League the opportunity to change clubs. Russian teams had been banned from international competitions due to the attack on the neighboring country.
The German coaches Markus Gisdol (Lok Moscow) and Daniel Farke (FK Krasnodar) have already said goodbye to their clubs and no longer want to work in Russia. Players should now also have this option and be allowed to change before the transfer window opens in the summer. Some professionals have already left the country and terminated their contracts, such as 54-time Ukraine international Yaroslav Rakitskiy, who was active at Zenit St. Petersburg (read the news). Meanwhile, Poland’s Grzegorz Krychowiak ended the Krasnodar chapter on Thursday with immediate effect.
On Wednesday, the international players’ association Fifpro also brought this step into play. One is already in talks with FIFA and the leagues, it said. In addition, Fifpro called for foreign professionals in Russia to be given a special right of termination and thus a free transfer.
