He strangled her because she removed the blood from under his fingernails, the man said to the police. The public prosecutor finds no evidence that the man had the plan to kill the woman in advance and he did this on a whim. Manslaughter carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years. The prosecutor adds to this that the man fooled the next of kin, including her children, for years. He lied about her death and kept her hidden.
“It is degrading,” said the public prosecutor about the way in which the body was eventually dumped in the water. She also found evidence that H. withdrew 5,500 euros from the victim’s account. This money was intended for her children. H. did not want to cooperate with psychological examinations and as a result there is insufficient information about possible disorders. The man was completely accountable.
“He has taken the children from their mother. Worse, they have not been able to say goodbye to her. The body had decomposed too far for that,” said the public prosecutor.
The finding of the roof box was a relief for H., his lawyer said. “He had been walking around with a secret for two years, knowing it would come out someday,” she said. According to her, an unconditional prison sentence is inevitable, now that H. does not want to be treated. She asked that H.’s personal circumstances be taken into account in a positive sense and that the sentence be moderated.
November 24 is verdict.
