Strong final third of the Berlin
Jordan Swarz (14th minute), Florian Elias (37th) and Tim Wohlgemuth (58th) scored for the Adler in front of 12,670 spectators in Mannheim. Blaine Byron (48th/57th), Zach Boychuk (55th/59th), Manuel Wiederer (37th) and Leonhard Pföderl (55th) also ensured the success of the capital club thanks to an outstanding final third.
“We had the good end on our side. Victory is victory,” said Kai Wissmann from Berlin. However, the team had a “difficult start”. “We didn’t play with enough focus in the last few minutes,” said Adler’s goalscorer Florian Elias. “We now have to watch videos, regenerate and then be there from the first minute.”
Munich undeterred after an early deficit
Munich didn’t let themselves be shocked by goals from Anthony Rech (7th) and Phil Hungerecker (8th) in Wolfsburg. Austin Ortega (15th), Benjamin Smith (25th) and Maximilian Kastner (36th) turned the match for coach Don Jackson’s team. Vice-champion Wolfsburg tried in vain to equalize.
“We started well and had enough chances. Today it was down to the little things,” said Grizzly pro Fabio Pfohl. “Now we have to finish the game quickly. We keep believing in ourselves.”
