The Adler Mannheim also lost the second game in the semi-final series against the Eisbären Berlin. Especially the goalie of the guests made life difficult for the eagles.
After 1: 3 defeat in the first semi-final duel The Adler Mannheim bravely started the second meeting with the polar bears from Berlin on Friday evening. Kristian Reichel missed the first good opportunity for the hosts (2nd minute) when Frederik Tiffels still crucially got the trowel in between when he tries. Even in the first overnight situation after a punishment against Berlin Jonas Müller, Mannheim had a good chance of the lead goal, but was unsuccessful.
On the other hand, after six minutes, the polar bears came dangerously in front of the goal of Goalie Arno Tiefensee, who parried the shot from Yannick Veilleux from a short distance. A little later, Ty Ronning did not put the puck in the eagle box after a two-on-one situation (8th). This was followed by intensive duels, from time to time supplemented by a befitted playoff gang – but there were no gates in the first third.
First numerous top chances – then Noebels meet
Mannheim’s Reichel provided the first highlight in the second third, whose shot from the bottom edge of the latte did not jump into the goal but back into the field (24th). After that, Berlin’s Gabriel Fontaine did not hit the puck properly (27th), Zach Boychuk failed from close range on Tiefensee (29th). Luke Esposito could have put the eagles in the lead, his free shot defused polar bear goalie Jake Hildebrand worth seeing (30th).
The polar bears struck just a good minute after Esposito’s great chance. After a shot from Ty Ronning, Marcel Noebels put the disc in the goal by dusting – the 1-0 for the German champion (31st). In addition, in the 21st game, Ronning collected at least one scorer point in the 21st game and thus equalized Peter Draisaitl’s record from the DEL debut season 1994/1995. Berlin switched one gear higher and increased to 2-0 in the 35th minute when Eric Hördler converted a fine attack from a short distance.
Berlin defensive remains stable against the eagles
In the final third, the Adler Mannheim pushed for the connection goal, but the defensive of the polar bears remained stable and only allowed a few really compelling goal opportunities. And if it became dangerous, the outstanding goalie Hildebrand was on hand. In no case could the deployment be denied the eagles, in the end the decisive punch was missing.
Adler Mannheim – Eisbären Berlin 0: 2 (0: 0, 0: 2, 0: 0)
Goals: 0: 1 Noebels (30:21), 0: 2 Hördler (34:43)
Criminal cars: Mannheim 8 – Berlin 8.
