DEL: Nuremberg stops Wolfsburg’s winning streak

The Grizzlys Wolfsburg have lost again in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after more than a month.

After seven wins in a row, the Lower Saxony lost 2:3 (0:1, 1:2, 1:0) to the Nuremberg Ice Tigers on Friday evening. The Grizzlys remain in second place for the time being, Nuremberg is in eighth place after four wins from the past five games.

Marko Friedrich (18th) and Dane Fox (27th, 29th) with a double strike put the hosts on course for victory. The goals from Armin Wurm (33rd) and Ryan Button (41st) were not enough for Wolfsburg.

After four previous bankruptcies, ERC Ingolstadt won 6:1 (3:0, 1:1, 2:0) against the Krefeld Pinguinen, who were threatened with relegation, and secured a direct play-off spot with fifth place.

After Corona outbreaks in several teams, only two of the originally planned five games could be played on Friday. With the Straubing Tigers, the Bietigheim Steelers, the Iserlohn Roosters and the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, four DEL teams are currently unplayable. Four games are already canceled on Sunday.
