The Adler Mannheim won the top game in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and thus took the lead in the table.
Coach Johan Lundskog’s team defeated the previous leaders on Saturday (September 30th, 2023) at the Kölner Haien 4:3 (2:2, 0:0, 2:1) and moved into first place with 15 points.
In a tough duel in front of 16,815 spectators, the score was 2:2 in the final third. After a nice assist from new signing Gregor MacLeod, Justin Schütz (54th) scored to make it 3-2 for the Haie. But Mannheim turned the game around within 70 seconds. First, Kris Bennett made it 3-3 (56th). Then shortly afterwards the Canadian made everything clear with his third goal of the evening (57th).
