Personnel problems with the penguins
The Krefelders were weakened in terms of personnel and only had four defenders in the squad. Nevertheless, it was enough shootout for the second win in a row. On Wednesday (03/02/2022) it had team also 3:2 after a penalty shootout ERC Ingolstadt won.
Cologne also lands victory
Before the crisis duel with the Krefeld Penguins on Tuesday (March 8th, 2022), the Kölner Haie set an example in the relegation battle. Coach Uwe Krupp’s team won 4-2 (1-0, 1-0, 2-2) in Bremerhaven. The Haie had only won one of their last 15 games.
In Bremerhaven, the Haie were 2-0 up, but then conceded two goals within 33 seconds in the final third, equalizing the game. Alexander Oblinger scored for Cologne with just under two minutes to go, Andreas Thuresson scored in the orphaned goal.
“It was so important today. Of course the pressure is high for us”said Oblinger on “MagentaSport”, “we won’t give up. We have a very important game ahead of us on Tuesday.”
