DEL: Kölner Haie announce the separation of eight stars

In future, Alexander Oblinger, Zach Sill and Jon Matsumoto will no longer play for the Kölner Haie in the German Ice Hockey League.

A total of eight professionals have been confirmed as leaving, as the eight-time champion announced a few days after losing the playoff quarterfinals against Adler Mannheim (2:4).

Goalkeeper Oleg Shilin, defenders Alex Roach, Ryan Stanton and Jack Dougherty and forward Julian Chrobot are also leaving the club.

Oblinger played five years for the Haie (216 appearances), Sill (190 games) and Matsumoto (207) each played four seasons for the Cologne team. The trio ran up the storm.

At least 19 players remain, with David McIntyre, Landon Ferraro and Nick Baptiste still open.

“It’s good that we’re able to keep the core of the squad together and build on it. We took a step forward in the 2022/23 season,” said coach Uwe Krupp.
