DEL ice hockey crisis club Düsseldorfer EG has parted ways with club legend Daniel Kreutzer after a weak start to the season. Mike Pellegrims is returning to the Rhinelanders.
“I have come to the conclusion that we need a new, external impulse for the team”DEG sports director Niki Mondt justified the step on Wednesday: “It is with a heavy heart that we are parting ways with Daniel Kreutzer.”
The 43-year-old played intermittently for DEG for 16 years. The ex-national player and fourth place in the 2010 World Cup holds all Düsseldorf records in Germany with 780 games, 217 goals, 425 assists and 642 scorer points ice Hockey League. After retiring from his career in 2017, Kreutzer was initially active in sponsorship before returning to the band as an assistant coach before last season.
DEG relies on Pellegrim’s experience
However, in the tense sporting situation, the club now wants to “on more experience as a trainerteam“ as stated in a press release. The solution is Mike Pellegrims. The Belgian was already a player between 2001 and 2006 and from 2017 to 2018 Head Coach worked at DEG.
After eleven games of the season in the DEL, DEG is still waiting for its first win after regular playing time. With seven points, the eight-time champions are in 13th place, level on points with bottom-placed Iserlohn Roosters. Before the season, the club had the goal playoffs-Semi-finals issued.
