Defending champion EHC Munich suffered a setback in the fight for direct playoff qualification in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) on Sunday (February 4, 2024). The Bremerhaven Pinguins narrowly won.

Further sixth – Munich benefits from Cologne’s defeat

Munich is still in sixth and last place for direct entry into the playoffs. The champions benefited from a defeat by the Kölner Haie. Coach Uwe Krupp’s team lost 1:4 (1:0, 0:3, 0:1) at the Schwenninger Wild Wings and remains one point behind Bayern.

Bremerhaven completes a mandatory task

The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven remain on the heels of league leaders Eisbären Berlin. The team from the North Sea coast struggled to a 2:1 (1:1, 1:0, 0:0) against relegation candidate Löwen Frankfurt and is three points behind the Eisbären in second place. Bremerhaven had led the table for a long time, but had to let the capital city team overtake them after two defeats against bottom team Iserlohn Roosters and the Kölner Haie.
