Hard frosts are perfect if you want to refresh bedding or carpets – and of course to defrost the freezer. In the summer, thawing is understandably much more difficult.

The freezer should be thawed at the latest when the frost layer is thicker than half a centimeter.

How to act? Here are the practical instructions found to be beneficial for Martto.

1. Switch off the freezer. Take the baskets out of the freezer or put the frozen items in, for example, cardboard boxes or coolers. Take the frozen food out.

Tip! During emptying, make an inventory of the frozen products and sort them into their own groups.

2. Leave the freezer door or lid open. You can speed up the melting of ice by putting a container of warm water in the freezer.

The melting can also be accelerated by collecting the sheets of ice before they melt into water. Be careful not to break the walls or cooling pipes during the removal process.

The water that has melted at the bottom of the freezer is channeled into a container placed outside the freezer through a possible opening in the bottom or a trough at the front edge of the bottom level. Otherwise, the water is collected from the bottom of the device. If there is a lot of water, you can scoop it out, otherwise soak up the water in towels.

3. Wipe the inside of the freezer with a cleaning cloth moistened with dishwashing liquid. Wash loose parts. Also wipe the outside and the back of the freezer.

4. Let the freezer dry and ventilate.

5. Connect the freezer to the freezing connection. Put the frozen food back in the freezer. The freezer setting is returned to storage switching when the freezer’s internal temperature is -18 degrees.
